I ordered this gorgeous photography book from German Amazon

http://www.amazon.de/Schmetterlingszauber-Hannah-Juliana-Bilder-Freundschaft/dp/3926200979/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1211807272&sr=1-2

The photographer has a blog

http://connywenk.blogspot.com/
if you want to check out her fab work - the new book in the pipeline is one of Dad's and their children (with DS). I just love it and so does Hannah - she often goes and gets it to look at. Very Happy Her favourite shot is the one of the 3 'little butterflies' with their legs in the air. The little girl Juliana has 'something extra' but her two friends do not. It is a photography book so if like me you don't speak German it isn't really an issue - just the ordering is - although I managed without too much trouble. ANyways HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you have 18 Euro + postage to spare

It came to 30 Euro with postage - mmm not sure exact amount - but if I find the invoice I'll let you know. I'd like to get the dads one too but have already overspent on Amazon US - I got Common Threads, Count us In, Victoria's Day and Roadmap. All good but OUCH - no more for at least 6 months.

tell me what common threads is like, im reading Road map to holland at the moment and its great. What's Victoria's day about? I wanna get chicken soup for the soul (special needs). I find its easier and costs abit less to just order from my borders shop. If i could find one of those second hand stores on Amazon that has a few i want id order, save on shipping. Is that what you do or do you buy them new?

If you can buy it in USD then you'll be better off. I made a purchase online recently that was going to be about 18 Euro, 30 AUD or 23 USD. I only had the choice of AUD or USD with my payment preference so chose USD because it converted to about 25 AUD clap

Looks like a great book!

I just watched the slide show on her blog:
her daughter Juliana

What a stunner!

Common threads is good - but I like Conny's photos better! It is meant to be a coffee table book but the paper and production in COnny's is better -s till Common threads has a lot more stories and quotes etc and is quite lovely. I have Chicken Soup for the Soul and it is ok but I am not wrapped in it - it doesn't have anything particularly unique or different about the way it looks at disability Embarassed Maybe that is a bit harsh - but in comparison to some of the others like Lessons From My Child which I really liked and re read every now and again Rolling Eyes . I thought I'd buy a heap to save on postage - it is my first order through amazon - and it was inspired because the bookstore that normally orders in stuff for me said they couldn't get Jen's Roadmap. I got mostly new so yes expensive - and then a couple of weeks later after looking for 18 months we finally bought a house cheers but definitely limited resources now Sad .

$50 - but still (gulp) worth it. Hannah loves it too - but maybe I'll make sure she takes REALLY good care of it! Wink

What a lovely book...beautiful pictures Smile

Robyn...I posted a link about Victoria's Day, I bought it here in Aus though, not through Amazon. My local Dymocks ordered it in for me, I think it was around $27 Aussie dollars.

Shelly dont suppose you want to lend me Chicken soup for the soul? just in case im not impressed with it either i think it was going to cost me $21.00 so then i could get common threads or the other one Lessons from my child. Im like you i want to keep them but im trying to only get the ones i like. I'll pay for postage and im a quick reader.

That's one stunning little girl, she's just breathtaking.

My step-daughters friend told me that Georgia will have awful teeth, as all children with DS do. I believed her, as she has a brother with DS (who obviously has problems with his teeth..). Conny's teeth are beautiful, so it mustn't be the case that they all have misshappen teeth. Gosh, I was going to believe someone who had a brother with DS, you'd think she'd know Evil or Very Mad

Yeah the teeth thing always scared me too - but no Hannah's teeth are very 'respectable' although they did come through in a slightly odd order I think.

Isabella has some very sharp teeth (which is a DS thing) but I've seen other kids with DS with great looking teeth - also worth noting is that baby teeth aren't necessarily the way adult teeth turn out (just incase you get a couple of sharpies for baby teeth too).

Funny thing I really noticed the teeth too.

I have thought about it, but aren’t concerned at all. My first son was born with a cleft lip and palate and I know how great the Dental Doctors are
Half teeth split down the centre can be rebuilt, missing teeth not a problem….. It’s endless dont worry

Yes Cas, Chezzy still has all his teeth but 2 molars that were extracted when he was around 25 years old because they where in the way. He has had a check up every 6 month all his like and cams out from the dentist with a big smile " No decays". Not yet anyhow. Maybe they are not perfect but my other 2 children would exchange theirs with Chezzy any time.............. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
