A great book for people who live remotely and don't have access to Physio's or Physio's leave. It gives you examples of ways to improve their skills, and still being able to play at the same time. It is available on Amazon and takes about a month to get here, there is also books on Fine Motor Skills in children with DS and Communication Skills

I highly recommend those books too. I am re-reading the Communication Skills one at the moment and always am referring to the Gross Motor Skills book.

I've added a link to the book on amazon here. We've also got this one and it's fantastic, even though we are also seeing the physio at the MHW Outpatients. It's very empowering as a new parent who doesn't know heaps about motor skill development, reasonably accessible too.

Apparently it can be ordered directly from the publisher somehow, although I think it's probably easier to buy it from Amazon.

I have found that Fishpond ( www.fishpond.com.au ) is much cheaper and quicker than Amazon.

I have just ordered

- Gross Motor Skills in Children with Down syndrome
- Fine motor skills for children with Down syndrome
- Early Communication skills for children with Down syndrome

Total was onlt $74 (with free postage!)

Is really worth a look.

I get a lot of my reference/info books through them

Hope this helps

Kath Lots of love
