Her 13-year-old son Vincenzo is living proof.
In the past year he's achieved a huge package of goals. It took a lot of diligent practise, but he learnt to swim. He learnt to ride a bike. And he also learnt to ride a horse, overcoming his initial fear of horses. And he dances.
He tells his mum it's important to be fit and healthy, so all those physical skills are part of the plan.
But he's developed his social skills as well.
He wanted to play in the school orchestra, so he does. He's joined the school kapa haka group...
