Did anyone else watch it?
http://sunday.ninemsn.com.au/sunday/cover_stories/article_2424.aspThey had a story on the NT scan and how unreliable it is. How Dr's are making women have a CVS or Amnio (by not explaining the very real risks of those procedures) because of those results and 95% of the CVS and Amnio results show no abnormalities.
They were basically saying that the NT Scan is completely unreliable. Apparently which US you have and which tools they use can affect your result.
They had some women on there who had the CVS and lost their babies (from an amniotic leak- where they took the specimen for the tests must never have healed or was weak
) They had a woman who was given the all clear and then had a Down's child. Another women who was given a high risk of Down's but then had a "normal" child.
The most disappointing part for me was that when they talked about the test, it was always so negative about Down's. Like the test was created so we could all be saved from hell on earth by having a child with Down's. It always gets me how people are so willing to terminate a child on the chance that their child will have it. But of course, I am biased!
