It is a lovely article. I am looking forward to the day when it is the norm, and the quality of life at that age is great. For independance to be possible at that age, so they don't have to ask that question "what will happen to them when their parents die".
We were speaking to friends of ours the other day, and they lost their daughter with DS 32 years ago, when she was only 6 days old (bowel problems and leukemia). Her life expectancy back then was only 15 if she had lived, so the life expectancy goes up more than a year, with each year. It won't be long until our kids can be expected to live until a ripe old age. I want that for Georgia.
