That's awesome - reminds me of Gianna I'm not 100% sure but I think that Robyn (in the video) may have been taught using the Doman method of teaching your baby to read. You can find the books at The Gentle Revolution (Glenn Doman). There's also a Yahoo Group (how did you know I was going to say that?!) called TeachYourBabyToRead where you can find support and information about teaching babies (or young children - it's never too late to start!) to read.

Cas she was taught using the Out of the box program, it’s also the name of there user name. I have the new link somewhere from the lady from out of the box, the name has changed. Oh and she posted on my blog with the new details of the site it’s not called out of the box anymore. It’s expensive and much like “see and learn” but it’s all done for you or you can order the cards.. And do your own. The key is the large font.

They are all probably basically the same anyway (I say this without having any knowledge of them except that they use flash cards) which is tending more towards a 'whole word' approace to reading (I'm guessing ). Very useful in kick starting your kids I think (not having done flash cards with any of mine).

Welcome back Cathy. How was your retreat? It looks just like flash cards to me but i would be interested in the teaching method, do you have a link for that?

Cas, I'm waiting for acceptance into that yahoo group. Are you a fan of the Doonan method? Looks very similar to Love and Learning too - are they both discussed in teh forum and would you recommend buying the 'teach your baby' to read book/kit?

Hey Di, I have to admit that I actually do not do any of those methods and don't know much about them either!!!! I joined the group with the intention of learning more as I'm studying How Children Learn Literacy at the moment but I've been so overwhelmed by all the reading I've had for uni let alone any stuff by choice! So, if you're thinking about buying it - I can only recommend you buy secondhand I'm a big advocate of buying secondhand before splashing out on new
Cathy (Aden's Mummy) is a good one to talk to about reading and resources
