hehehe I'm thinking the same Robyn, only I didn't see last week's so if I watch tonight I won't know what's going on....maybe I'll just wait and see what people say tomorrow

I have to say that my SIL (who is a nurse) was a bit "oh well" about it today and then added that is why she doesn't watch the show due to the lack of facts.

What i want to know is, they keep saying they have medical advisors. What do they pay them for,to make stuff up. Everyone keeps saying it is only a show and shouldn't take everything as fact BUT they employ "medical advisors",at least get the medical facts right!!!!

Exactly, and I wouldn’t’ have had a clue until I had Aden so to me anyone outside of the Ds community, wouldn’t have a clue and it’s them that need the education……

Oh yeah, I believe they had medical advisors, but just because you have a degree in medicine, doesn't mean you know about genetics and Down Syndrome in particular....ggrrr

Yes but it turns out that the nurse consulted a geneticist (?spelling) and even their geneticist got it wrong

Ok I'm watching it now - do they do new story lines each week? Ie are last weeks couple likely to show up again?

They usually have new storylines each week with the only continuing storylines with the core characters....that's the usual...who knows what they'll do tonight.

It hasn't started here in SA yet.

The only way they are going to do something tonight is to say something in a commercial. There is no way that they are going to shoot a whole new episode about this. I'm not even going to bother watching.

No Apology. Stupid show really - one of the nurses told a patients wife that he thought she was having an affair. As if.

We bought our house off one of the actors actually so the only enjoyment I got was watching the actress for the first time.

I think an apology won't be forthcoming unless it's in the print media

But the story line was pulled so that is great, lets hope they don’t continue with it next week or the week after.
Kimberly from AS actually told me that they had planned to continue with this story over a few weeks.
I told her it should be pulled… so it’s a small celebration here the story wasn’t continued

At the risk of offending anyone, which i dont mean to do at all, but what is legal action going to do? PLEASE other than a public appology which i think is warranted, what is it going to prove? Where's the money going to come from to pursue it? I'll tell you where, from the money that these organizations have, to do positive things for our kids. So in effect it will be people with Ds losing out again. It's a no win situation.
I dont think All Saints will do it again Lets put our energy into advocating for our kids in a postive way and not in a way that the general public will say "oh they only want the money" cause you know that will happen.

I kinda feel the same way Robyn - more so that a public threat may not have been the best way to go about it (not that I have any ideas on a better way), esp as I also wonder how they will follow up on it.

Not that I don't think the outrage should have been made public (bloody well should have) just that I don't know how it will pan out now.

Agree, I made sure in my letter to them that I mentioned to other show with the young mother with ds.
I think the idea is more for a retraction, they do really need to retract what they have put out their, you know cant leave it like it is.
