| I had to put a cloth nappy on Aden as I have ran out of disposables and cant get to the shop right now. Gee I don’t like how far apart this makes his hips sit. It cant be any good for them can they? What are your thoughts? We seen a ST when we were in Brisbane she really stressed about keeping Aden’s legs together not that I have cause I agree with out Pead that he is how he is and nothing I do will change that but I have to say I dont think forcing them apart with cloth nappy’s can be much good from him either. | |

| We were advised not to use Cloth nappies with Lewis for that very reason. My girls also had hip displasia (clicky hips) at birth, one needing to be in a brace, and it tends to be hereditary so they pretty firm with it for us. Talk to your Physio, but I am guessing they may say the same thing. | |

| Ok guys, you need to check out Modern Cloth nappies!! They are as trim and absorbent as disposables and often much more comfortable (it just can't be comfy wearing plastic covered paper can it? I know I didn't like wearing those disposable undies after giving birth!!) There's Panda Baby (Kathi's store) - she also makes nappies for her 5yr old son Also, I'm a big fan of Itti Bitti nappies and one of the advantages they have over disposables is that they don't get all squishy and saggy when they are wet! There's heaps of trim nappies out there (also Lotus Nappies and Bits for Bots - just a couple more) and there's also lots of folds for terry squares that make a trim fitting nappy. I use Gaynor's Fold for girls but I also fold the sides up so that when I wrap them around Jirah's waist, it gives a really trim crotch The other alternative I guess is to use Elimination Communication which I think I'll venture more into when Jirah is walking... | I reckon Baby Beehinds are perfectly fine In fact, I reckon they may even help her toilet train later on...Jirah already 'tells' me when she's done a poo. And I reckon once we start toilet training that the reward of dry knickers/nappy as opposed to wet pants will help things along. I'll let you know how we go when we get there! Cas | |

| I was going to suggest Baby Beehinds as well- my friend Davina is the owner http://www.babybeehinds.com.au/The old cloth nappies are probably not any good for them- but the new cloth would be fine- not much difference between them and disposables now | |

| I haven't actually had the pleasure of meeting her We were members of an online forum for years, back when she only had the 1 child and was making them for her, then when she made it into a business, then when that business got too big and she expanded. I have a few friends who are reps for Baby Beehinds and swear by her cloth nappies I have never had the funds at the right time to do it- I thought about it alot but I think I am just too lazy lol A SAHM/WAHM made good- she is a fantasic girl | |

ROFLMAO Cas. She is so clever I agree a WAHM made good!!!! We love her nappies here. My sis and SIL use them for their kidlets too. I love how cute the kids tushies look in them. I am needing to get some new wraps (covers) but I like the tot's bot covers I will ask my phyiso next time I see her what she thinks as they do keep Mac's legs quite apart...

| Tania can you let us know what she says please.
Ok yes I'm sure MCN are much better but I cant afford that we spend around $30 a month and would never have the money to buy MCN and then don’t you have to buy them again as they are different in size? Hey Cas the disposables one aren’t like plastic anyone they have a material that breaths. We use the H brand not sure on the others. We use 3 or 4 a day just depends Aden doesn’t wee a lot and I have him nappy free in jocks a bit to.

| It will be interesting what your physio says Tan because I can't really picture a Baby Beehinds keeping the legs apart. One thing that will definitely be keeping her legs apart is the fact that she's got hyperextensible hips. I didn't start using cloth on Jirah til she was one and her legs were always apart up until then. I always made a conscious effort to hold her so her legs were together, and to put her legs together if she was lying with them apart or to make sure she was sitting with them together. If you're looking for some new covers, March is the time to buy them because of the Great Down Under Nappy Hunt. Lots of stores have discounted products and free gifts during the hunt (I'm offering 10% off everything). I don't have any Baby Beehinds wraps in my store but I do have some to sell (brand new) Cathy: I still say that even a terry square folded right can be very trim. Especially at the age our kids are Cas | |

| I never used cloth nappies on the brats so this issue never occurred - Hannah did start wearing tennis sweat bands around her legs though to help build up her muscles - I felt mean at first but once we had a wardrobe that they fitted under pretty well - I left them on her a lot until she started walking. | |

| I have only ever used cloth on all 3 of my kids. Once I had Brielle I knew I couldnt use Terry squares anymore so went to MCNs. I used tot bot size 1 on her and my physio said they were fine. I know use almost 100% Itti Bittis on her and the paed and the physio have said they are fine. It saves us so much money to use MCN plus I am not exposing her to all the nasty chemicals that are in disgustables , I plan to keep using them for as long as they fit or until she eventually TTs. | |

| Ok i admit i'm one of the slack ones  i dont use cloth, i did on my first 2 but not on the last 4  I dont have to worry about Amarli's hips as she has always kept her legs straight and together. She does have all the flexibilty of our kids but her legs have always stayed together so i'm hoping later on we wont have any issues. | |

| When Karyn was visiting she pointed out her legs to me, i hadnt really noticed as she's been like that since birth. So i checked with the PT and she also said the same thing that yes hopefully she will not have a prob walking. Already she can pull her legs up underneath her in a crawling position she just doesnt have the muscle strength in her arms to support her or i think she would take off. I remember reading on another post that Ciarra i think walked when she was 13mths i wonder if her legs were the same as Amarli. I can imagine what Aden looked like in the pool, Amarli can do all those things with her legs too she just doesnt do it alot. Aden will walk when he is good and ready Do you use the leg bands on him? | |

| No I haven’t got any bands I did read that you could use stocking we tried that and our Pead and GP both said that it wouldn't fix the problem. Aden will now push up on his knees and they don’t spit apart now. but he is 2ys old to. Payton walked even earlier than Ciarra I think or around the same time. I think it was Leah that said that some children have different area’s that are a problem for them. I think Aden has it in every area. Lol oh well he will get their.
Every time I turn around this past two weeks he is standing straight up, none of this folded over leaning on things. He even took a few steps when a toy slid along that he was leaning on. I must get him on film again, before he takes off.

| I think the bands are recommended by PT's to assist the child in keeping their legs together when they learn to crawl and then i think that helps with walking? But Aden sounds like he's doing fine does he use a walker toy to take steps? I thought that most kids with ds didnt walk till 2 or later anyway. And yes i knew that some kids are affected in different areas with tone Amarli's only problem is her arms she can reach for things and has stared to grab but we have to get her to put weight on them and use them for pushing. Then i know she will just take off even if you lay her in her chair she is trying to sit upright so thats a good sign, she doesnt seem to want to sit still you can tell she just wants to go but hey im old and im in no hurry to be running after a toddler | |

| Hannah walked just after her second birthday. There is such a variety - the little girl in the same EI group walked much sooner because she didn't have Han's low tone and loose hips as much. Other kids are closer to 3 when they walk. It is an important milestone - for them and us - less carrying a ginormous toddler (or sack of potatoes!) around and it makes it easier for them to assert their independence and explore the world as they like. Hannah still falls flat on her face for no apparent reason - the orthotics guy recommended that we do some 'bum exercises' for her tight glutes - I could hardly believe she had a 'tight' muscle anywhere!! | |
